The subreddit Mods removes the publication that connects Kik with child porn

On 18th June a user posted a link to a court document accusing Kik of facilitating the exchange of child pornography in the Kin Foundation’s subreddit. The link was crossed to Solana’s subreddit. The moderators of both subreddits subsequently removed the publications.

Cointelegraph contacted the moderators of both subreddits on June 22, but received no explanation.

Kik starts selling all 512 billion ICO tokens, Canadian users still banned
The moderators of Solana’s subreddit then removed the Cointelegraph public consultation, as shown by Reddit’s anti-censorship tool, Snew.

Kik is in the middle of a sex trafficking lawsuit

Removeddit is a content recovery service that caches Reddit publications before they are deleted. We can see here that the modifications removed a linked court document that describes the lawsuit.

Kik’s SEC drama will soon be over
The nature of the claim is that Jane Doe, a minor at the time, was a victim of sex trafficking through Kik’s online chat platform in August 2005. At that time, Jane Doe’s father found several conversations his daughter, who was at least 13 years old, had with adult men through Kik. In these conversations, the minor sent sexually explicit videos and images of herself through Kik.

According to the plaintiff, Ethereum Code, a chat service aimed primarily at teenagers, is widely used by sex offenders to commit child abuse.

The document features a 2017 Forbes article quoting a convicted child molester who says Kik is a „paradise for predators. A registered sex offender was a member of more than 200 Kik groups, with names such as kidsnbabies, dedicated to the abuse of children aged three to 12. The content published in the groups included photos and videos.

Kik and SEC oppose each other’s motions for summary judgment

The lawsuit mentions the Kin cryptomone
The document also mentions Kin, Kik’s beleaguered crypto currency, which allows users to access premium content such as sticker packages. The company sold more than half a billion Kin tokens to investors during an initial currency offering in September 2017. In total, they raised about USD 100 million.

The US Securities and Exchange Commission filed a lawsuit against Kik for the offer, claiming that the company sold unregistered securities. As reported by Cointelegraph in May, the litigation will soon come to an end, with both parties seeking summary judgment.
